في الصلاة على خير البرية — الإمام شرف الدين البوصيري (ت 696هـ)

قصيدة في الصلاة والسلام على النبي ﷺ، مطلعها «يا رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَى المُخْتَارِ مِنْ مُضَرٍ»، جمع فيها البوصيري ألوانًا من التعداد البديع في الصلاة على النبي ﷺ بعدد الحصى والثرى وقطر الماء وورق الأشجار، وختمها بالدعاء والترضي عن الخلفاء الراشدين. وقد تلقّتها الأمة بالقبول وحُفظت في مجالس الذكر شرقًا وغربًا.

Al-Qaṣīda al-Muḍariyya — Imam Sharaf ad-Dīn al-Būṣīrī

An ode of invoking blessings upon the Prophet ﷺ, opening with 'O my Lord, bestow Your blessings upon the Chosen One of Muḍar.' In it al-Busiri weaves magnificent enumerations — blessings as numerous as the pebbles, the soil, the drops of rain and the leaves of the trees — closing with supplication and praise of the rightly-guided caliphs. It has been lovingly recited in gatherings of remembrance across the Muslim world.

يا رَبِّ صَلِّ عَلَى المُخْتَارِ مِنْ مُضَرٍ
وَالأَنْبِيا وَجَميعِ الرُّسْلِ مَا ذُكِرُوا

O Lord, bestow blessings upon the Chosen One from Mudar, and upon the Prophets and all Messengers whenever they are remembered.

وَصَلِّ رَبِّ عَلَى الهَادِي وَشِيْمَتِهِ
وَصَحْبِهِ مِنْ لِطَيِّ الدِّينِ قدْ نَشَرُوا

And bless, O Lord, the Guide and his noble character, along with his companions who diligently spread the pure religion.

وَجاهَدُوا مَعَهُ في اللهِ وَاجْتَهَدُوا
وهاجَرُوا ولَهُ آوَوْا وَقَدْ نَصَرُوا

They strove with him for God's sake, exerted themselves, migrated, offered him refuge, and truly supported him.

وبَيَّنُوا الْفَرْضَ وَالمَسْنُونَ وَاعْتَصَبُوا
للهِ وَاعْتَصِمُوا باللهِ وَانْتَصَرُوا

They clarified the obligatory and the recommended practices, united for God, held fast to Him, and achieved victory.

أزْكَى صَلاَةٍ وأتماها وَأَشْرَفَها
يُعِطِّرُ الكَوْنُ رَيَّا نَشْرها العَطِرُ

May the purest, most complete, and noblest of blessings be upon them, whose fragrant diffusion perfumes the entire universe.

مَفْتُوقَةً بِعَبِيرِ الْمِسْكِ زَاكِيةً
مِنْ طِيبها أَرَجُ الرَّضْوَانِ يَنْتَشِرُ

Infused with the pure fragrance of musk, from whose sweetness the aroma of divine pleasure spreads far and wide.

عَدَّ الْحَصَى وَالثَّرَى والرَّمْلِ يَتْبَعُهَا
نَجْمُ السَّماءِ وَنَبْتُ الأَرْضِ والمَدَرُ

Blessings equal to the number of pebbles, soil, and sand, followed by the stars of the sky, the plants of the earth, and its clods.

وَعَدَّ ما حَوَتِ الأُشْجَارُ منْ وَرَقٍ
وكُلِّ حَرْفٍ غَدَا يُتْلَى وَيُستَطَرُ

And equal to the number of leaves on all trees, and every letter that is recited and inscribed.

وَعَدَّ وَزْنَ مَثاقِيلِ الْجِبالِ كَذَا
يلِيهِ قَطْرُ جَمِيعِ الماءِ والمَطَرُ

And equal to the weight of the mountains, followed by the drops of all water and rain.

وَالطَّيْرِ وَالوَحْشِ وَالأسْماكِ مَعْ نَعَمٍ
يَتْلُوهُمُ الجِنُّ وَالأمْلاكُ وَالبَشَرُ

And equal to the number of birds, wild beasts, fish, and livestock, followed by the jinn, angels, and humankind.

والذَّرُّ والنَّمْلُ معَ جَمْعِ الحُبُوبِ كَذَا
والشَّعْرُ والصُّوفُ والأَرْياشُ والوَبَرُ

And equal to the number of atoms and ants, along with all grains, and hair, wool, feathers, and camel hair.

وما أحاطَ بهِ العِلْمُ المُحِيطُ وَما
جَرَى بهِ القَلَمُ المَأمُونُ وَالقَدَرُ

And equal to all that the encompassing knowledge has comprehended, and all that the trusted pen has written, and destiny has decreed.

وعَدَّ نَعْمَائِكَ اللاتِي مَنَنْتَ بِهَا
عَلَى الخلائِقِ مُذْ كانُوا وَمُذْ حُشِرُوا

And equal to the number of Your blessings that You have bestowed upon all creation, from their very existence until their resurrection.

وعَدَّ مِقْدَارِهِ السَّامِي الَّذي شَرُفَتْ
بهِ النَّبِيُّونَ والأمْلاكُ وافْتَخَرُوا

And equal to his exalted status, by which the Prophets and angels were honored and took pride.

وعَدَّ ما كانَ في الأكْوانِ يا سَنَدِي
وما يَكُونُ إلَى أنْ تُبْعَثَ الصُّوَرُ

And equal to all that has existed in the universes, O my Support, and all that will exist until the resurrection of all forms.

في كُلِّ طَرْفَةِ عَيْنٍ يَطْرِفُونَ بِها
أهْلُ السَّموَاتِ والأَرْضِينَ أوْ يَذَرُ

In every blink of an eye by which the inhabitants of the heavens and earths gaze or avert their sight.

مِلْءُ السَّموَاتِ والأَرْضِينَ مَعْ جَبَلٍ
والْفَرْشِ والعَرْشِ والكُرْسِي وَما حَصَرُوا

Filling the heavens and the earths, along with mountains, the earth's expanse, the Throne, the Footstool, and all that they encompass.

ما أَعْدَمَ اللهُ مَوْجُوداً وَأَوْجَدَ
مَعْدُوماً صَلاَة دَوَاماً لَيْسَ تَنْحَصِرُ

As long as God has not annihilated what exists and has brought into being what was non-existent, may these blessings be continuous and boundless.

تَسْتَغْرِقُ العدَّ مَعْ جَمعِ الدُّهورِ كَمَا
يُحِيطُ بالحَدِّ لا تُبْقِي ولا تَذَرُ

These blessings encompass all counting throughout the ages, just as they surround all limits, leaving nothing out.

لا غايَةً وَانتِهَاءً يَا عَظِيمُ لَها
ولا لَهُم أمَدٌ يُقْضَى وَيُنْتَظَرُ

O Great One, these blessings have no limit or end, nor is there a term for them that can be fulfilled or awaited.

مَعَ السَّلامِ كَمَا قَدْ مَرَّ مِنْ عَدَدٍ
رَبَا وضاعَفَها والفَضْلُ مُنْتَشِرُ

May peace be upon him, multiplied and increased beyond any count, for His boundless grace is ever-widespread.

وَعَدَّ أَضْعَافِ مَا قَدْ مَرَّ مِنْ عَدَدٍ
مَعْ ضِعْفِ أَضْعافِهِ يَا مَنْ لَهُ الْقَدَرُ

And may this peace be multiplied by countless more multiples, and then doubled again, O You who holds all power and destiny.

كَمَا تُحِبُّ وَتَرْضَى سَيِّدِي وكَمَا
أمَرْتَنا أنْ نُصَلِّي أنْتَ مُقْتَدِرُ

Grant this as You love and are pleased, my Lord, and in the manner You commanded us to invoke blessings, for You are indeed All-Powerful.

وَكُلُّ ذلِكَ مَضْرُوبٌ بِحَقِّكَ في
أنْفاسِ خَلْقِكَ إنْ قَلُّوا وَإنْ كَثُرُوا

Let all of this be multiplied, by Your right, by the number of breaths of Your creation, whether they be few or many.

يَارَبِّ واغْفِرْ لِتَالِيها وسامِعِها
وَالمُرْسَلِينَ جَمِيعاً أَيْنَمَا حَضَرُوا

O Lord, forgive the one who recites this poem and the one who listens to it, and all the messengers wherever they may be present.

وَوَالِدينَا وأَهْلِينا وَجِيرَانِنَا
وَكُلُّنا سَيِّدِي لِلْعَفْوِ مُفْتَقِرُ

And forgive our parents, our families, and our neighbors, for all of us, my Lord, are in dire need of Your forgiveness.

وقَدْ أَتَتْ بِذُنُوبٍ لاَ عِدَادَ لَها
لكِنْ عَفْوَكَ لا يُبْقى ولا يَذَرُ

Though we have come with sins beyond count, Your boundless forgiveness leaves nothing untouched and spares no fault.

والهَمُّ عَنْ كُلِّ ما أَبْغِيهِ أَشْمَلَنِي
وقَدْ أَتَى خاضِعاً وَالقَلْبُ مُنْكَسِرٌ

Worry about all that I seek has encompassed me, and I come before You submissively with a broken heart.

أَرْجُوكَ يَا رَبِّ في الدَّارَيْنِ تَرْحَمُنا
بِجَاهِ مَنْ فِي يَدَيْهِ سَبَّحَ الحَجَرُ

I implore You, O Lord, to have mercy on us in both this world and the Hereafter, by the honor of him in whose hands the very stone glorified God.

يَا رَبِّ أَعْظِمْ لَنا أجْراً وَمَغْفِرَةً
لأَنَّ جُودَكَ بَحْرٌ لَيْسَ يَنْحَصِرُ

O Lord, grant us immense reward and forgiveness, for Your generosity is a boundless ocean that knows no limits.

وكُنْ لَطِيفاً بِنَا في كلِّ نَازِلَةٍ
لُطْفاً جَمِيلاً بهِ الأهْوَالُ تَنْحَسِرُ

And be gentle with us in every calamity, with a beautiful gentleness by which all horrors and adversities recede.

بالمُصْطَفَى المُجْتَبَى خَيْرِ الأنامِ ومَنْ
جَلاَلَةً نَزَلَتْ في مَدْحِهِ السُّوَرُ

Grant this by the honor of Al-Mustafa, the Chosen One, the best of mankind, for whose majesty entire chapters of the Quran were revealed in his praise.

ثُمَّ الصَّلاَةُ عَلَى المُخَتارِ ما طَلَعَتْ
شَمْسُ النَّهارِ وما قَدْ شَعْشَعَ الْقَمَرُ

Then blessings be upon the Chosen One as long as the sun rises each day and the moon shines brightly.

ثُمَّ الرِّضَا عَنْ أبي بَكْرٍ خَلِيفَتِهِ
مَنْ قَامَ مِنْ بَعْدِهِ لِلدِّينِ يَنْتَصِرُ

Then may God be pleased with Abu Bakr, his successor, who rose after him to uphold and support the religion.

وَعَنْ أَبِي حَفْصٍ الفَارُوقِ صاحِبِهِ
مَنْ قَوْلُهُ الْفَصْلُ في أحْكامِهِ عُمَرُ

And may God be pleased with Abu Hafs Al-Farooq, his companion Umar, whose word was decisive in his judgments.

وَجُدْ لِعُثْمَانَ ذِي النورَيْنِ مَنْ كَمُلَتْ
لَهُ المَحَاسِنُ في الدَّارَيْنِ والظَّفَرُ

And be generous to Uthman Dhun-Nurayn, for whom perfections were complete in both worlds, and who achieved triumph.

كَذَا عَلِيَّ مَعَ ابْنَتِهِ وَأُمِّهِمَا
أَهْلِ العَبَاءِ كَمَا قَدْ جَاءَنا الخَبَرُ

Likewise, Ali, along with his daughter Fatima and their mother Khadijah, the People of the Cloak, as the tradition has reached us.

سَعدٌ سَعِيدُ بنُ عَوْفٍ طَلْحَةٌ وَأَبُو
عُبَيْدَةَ وَزُبَيْرٌ سادَةٌ غُرَرٌ

And Saad, Saeed ibn Awf, Talha, Abu Ubaidah, and Zubair, all noble and distinguished leaders.

وَالآلِ وَالصَّحْبِ والاتْبَاعِ فاطِمَةٌ
ما حَنَّ لَيْلُ الدَّيَاجِي أَوْ بَدَا السَّحَرُ

And upon the family, the companions, and the followers, including Fatima, as long as the dark night yearns for dawn or the pre-dawn light appears.
