Section Five: The Social System of Life in Islam

الباب الأول: اللباس والزينة والسكن

Chapter One: Clothing, Adornment, and Housing

قال رسول الله ﷺ «لا تَتْرُكُوا النَّارَ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ حِينَ تَنَامُونَ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Do not leave fire in your houses when you sleep.'

قال رسول الله ﷺ «لا يَنْظُرُ اللهُ إِلَى مَنْ جَرَّ ثَوْبَهُ خُيَلاءَ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Allah does not look at the one who drags his garment out of pride.'

قال رسول الله ﷺ «يَا عَائِشَةُ، أَشَدُّ النَّاسِ عَذَابًا عِنْدَ الله يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ الَّذِينَ يُضَاهُونَ بِخَلْقِ الله».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Aisha, the people who will receive the severest punishment from Allah on the Day of Resurrection are those who imitate the creation of Allah.'

الباب الثاني: الطعام والشراب

Chapter Two: Food and Drink

قال رسول الله ﷺ «اجْتَمِعُوا عَلَى طَعَامِكُمْ وَاذْكُرُوا اسْمَ اللهِ عَلَيْهِ يُبَارَكْ لَكُمْ فِيهِ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Gather together over your food and mention the name of Allah over it; it will be blessed for you.'

قال رسول الله ﷺ «بَيْتٌ لا تَمْرَ فِيهِ جِيَاعٌ أَهْلُهُ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'A house in which there are no dates is a house whose people are hungry.'

قال رسول الله ﷺ «غَطُّوا الإِنَاءَ، وأَوْكُوا السِّقَاءَ، وَأَغْلِقُوا الأَبْوَابَ، وَأَطْفِئُوا السِّرَاجَ، فَإِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ لَا يَحُلُّ سِقَاءً، وَلَا يَفْتَحُ بَابًا، وَلَا يَكْشِفُ إِنَاءً، فَإِنْ لَمْ يَجِدْ أَحَدُكُمْ إِلَّا أَنْ يَعْرُضَ عَلَى إِنَائِهِ عُودًا وَيَذْكُرَ اسْمَ اللهِ فَلْيَفْعَلْ، فَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ تُضْرِمُ عَلَى أَهْلِ الْبَيْتِ بَيْتَهُمْ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'Cover the vessels, secure the water-skins, close the doors, and extinguish the lamp, for Satan does not untie a water-skin, nor does he open a door, nor does he uncover a vessel. If one of you finds nothing to do except to lay a stick across his vessel and mention the name of Allah, let him do so, for al-Fuwaysiqah will set fire to the house of its inhabitants.'

قال رسول الله ﷺ «مَا مَلأَ آدَمِيٌّ وِعَاءً شَرًّا مِنْ بَطْنِهِ بِحَسْبِ ابْنِ آدَمَ أُكُلاتٌ يُقِمْنَ صُلْبَهُ فَإِنْ كَانَ لا مَحَالَةَ، فَثُلُثٌ لِطَعَامِهِ، وَثُلُثٌ لِشَرَابِهِ، وَثُلُثٌ لِنَفَسِهِ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'No human has filled a vessel worse than his stomach. It is sufficient for the son of Adam to eat a few morsels that will keep his back upright. If he cannot avoid filling it, then one third for his food, one third for his drink, and one third for his breath.'

قال رسول الله ﷺ «يَا عَائِشَةُ، أَكْرِمِي كَرِيمَكِ، فَإِنَّهَا مَا نَفَرَتْ عَنْ قَوْمٍ قَطُّ فَعَادَتْ إِلَيْهِمْ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'O Aisha, honor your noble one; for she has never deserted a people and then returned to them.'

«نَهَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يُتَنَفَّسَ فِي الإِنَاءِ، أَوْ يُنْفَخَ فِيهِ».

'The Prophet ﷺ forbade that one breathe into a vessel or blow into it.'

الباب الثالث: الصيد والذبائح والأضاحي

Chapter Three: Hunting, Slaughtered Animals, and Sacrifices

«نَهَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ أَنْ يُقْتَلَ شَيْءٌ مِنَ الدَّوَابِ صَبْرًا».

The Prophet ﷺ forbade that any of the animals be killed as an act of patience.
