Section Seven: Jihad, Martyrdom, and the Spoils

قال رسول الله ﷺ «ارْجِعْ إِلَى أَبَوَيْكَ فَاسْتَأْذِنْهُمَا، فَإِنْ أَذِنَا لَكَ فَجَاهِدْ، وإِلَّا فَبِرَّهُمَا».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Return to your parents and seek their permission; if they permit you, then strive (in jihad), otherwise be dutiful to them.'

قال رسول الله ﷺ «الْمُجَاهِدُ مَنْ جَاهَدَ نَفْسَهُ فِي الله عَزَّ وَجَلَّ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The mujahid is the one who struggles against his own self for the sake of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He.'

قال رسول الله ﷺ «سَتُفْتَحُ عَلَيْكُمْ أَرَضُونَ، وَيَكْفِيكُمُ اللهُ فَلَا يَعْجِزُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَنْ يَلْهُوَ بِأَسْهُمِهِ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Lands will be opened to you, and Allah will suffice you; none of you will lack the opportunity to amuse himself with his arrows.'

قال رسول الله ﷺ «عَلِّمُوا أَبْنَاءَكُمُ السِّبَاحَةَ والرِّمَايَةَ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'Teach your children swimming and archery.'

قال رسول الله ﷺ «لَا يَجْتَمِعُ غُبَارٌ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ وَدُخَانُ جَهَنَّمَ فِي مَنْخِرَيْ مُسْلِمٍ أَبَدًا».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'The dust raised in the path of Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, and the smoke of Hell will never meet in the nostrils of a Muslim.'

قال رسول الله ﷺ «وَأَعِدُّوا لَهُم مَّا اسْتَطَعْتُم مِّن قُوَّةٍ، قَالَ: أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ، أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ، أَلَا إِنَّ الْقُوَّةَ الرَّمْيُ».

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'And prepare against them whatever you are able of power...' (Qur'an 8:60). He said: 'Know that strength is marksmanship; know that strength is marksmanship; know that strength is marksmanship.'

«نَهَى النَّبِيُّ ﷺ عَنْ قَتْلِ النِّسَاءِ وَالصَّبْيَانِ».

The Prophet ﷺ forbade the killing of women and children.
