His leadership and his call ﷺ

The Prophet's ﷺ banner and standard

The banner of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ was black, and his standard was white with the words "There is no god but Allah" written on it. Reported by Abu al-Shaikh from Ibn 'Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him.

  • His banner ﷺ: black — known as "al-ʿUqab"
  • His standard ﷺ: white with written on it, "There is no god but Allah; Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah"
  • He used a staff and a rod to direct people

His ﷺ approach to calling people to Islam

He ﷺ would send letters to the kings of the regions inviting them to Islam. His ﷺ mission was based on wisdom, good admonition, and gentleness in teaching; he would not choose between two matters except that he chose the easier of the two so long as it was not sinful.

  • He ﷺ sent letters to kings and princes inviting them to Islam
  • He taught with gentleness and ease, and he never treated a student harshly
  • He would repeat a matter three times so that it would be understood from him
  • He used parables to bring meanings closer to people's minds

His ﷺ courage on the battlefield

He ﷺ was among the bravest of people; Ali ibn Abi Talib, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "When the fighting grew fierce and the struggle intensified, we would take refuge with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, for no one was closer to the enemy than he." And Al-Bara' ibn 'Azib, may Allah be pleased with him, said: "I saw us on the Day of Hunayn and with us was only the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he was walking on his white mule toward the enemy."
