Faith in God

Faith in God is not a mere theoretical idea or an intellectual luxury; it is an innate disposition rooted deep within every human. No matter how much one tries to hide it with desires or cover it with preoccupation with material things, in times of hardship and danger the soul returns to call upon its Creator and seeks refuge in Him, recognizing with its inward reason that this universe has a Powerful Lord and that its existence cannot be a pure coincidence without a Maker.

Reason teaches us that everything in this finite universe needs an Originator. Reflecting on the greatness of human creation—from a drop of fluid to a complete human being—the precise order that governs the cosmos, and the links between things—all of this demonstrates that behind this existence there is a Knowing, Wise God. A sound intellect is unable to conceive that matter created itself or that chance produced this wonderful order.

Knowledge of God comes through contemplation of His signs in creation and in the Qur'an, which address both the innate disposition (fitrah) and reason. When a believer realizes that God is the Creator and Owner of the universe, he singles Him out in worship, does not associate anyone with Him, and seeks benefit or protection only from Him, following the path of the prophets, peace be upon them, who directed their hearts and deeds to God alone.

True faith is manifested in the believer’s actions and conduct; it is not confined to inner conviction alone, but appears in obedience and compliance with God’s commands. Love of God and reverence for Him are the spirit of worship that turn the believer’s life into a continuous chain of beneficial deeds, where ordinary daily work, when done with sincere intention and devotion, becomes an act of worship sought for the sake of God, following what the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ brought.
