هِمْ بِالحَبِيب

طُوبَى لِمَنْ هُوَ فِي المَحَبَّةِ صَبُّهُ — من عيون المدائح المتوارثة (قائلها غير معروف على التحقيق)

موشح من عيون المدائح المتوارثة في مجالس الإنشاد، يدور على الهيام بحب النبي ﷺ وأن الأرض لا تُبلي جسدًا تمكّن فيه حب أحمد ﷺ، ويختم بالتوسل إلى الله بالنبي وآله. اشتهر بأداء كبار المنشدين في المشرق والمغرب.

Him bil-Ḥabīb (Yearn for the Beloved) — From the inherited treasury of praise poetry

A strophic hymn from the inherited treasury of praise poetry chanted in gatherings of remembrance. It sings of yearning love for the Prophet ﷺ — that the earth will never consume a body in which the love of Ahmad ﷺ has taken root — and closes with supplication to Allah through the Prophet and his family. It is beloved of the great munshids of East and West.

هِمْ بِالحَبِيبِ مُحَمَّدٍ وَذَوِيهِ
إِنَّ الهُيَامَ بِحُبِّهِ يُرْضِيهِ

Yearn with deep passion for the Beloved Muhammad and his kin, for indeed, such fervent love and longing for him brings him great pleasure.

إِنْ مَاتَ جِسْمُكَ فَالْهَوَىٰ يُحْيِيهِ
جَسَدٌ تَمَكَّنَ حُبُّ أَحْمَدَ فِيهِ

Even if your body perishes, the love for him will revive it, especially a body in which the love of Ahmad has taken deep root.

تَاللّٰهِ إِنَّ الأَرْضَ لَا تُبْلِيهِ

By God, the earth will not decay such a body.

طُوبَىٰ لِمَنْ هُوَ فِي المَحَبَّةِ صَبُّهُ
لِمَ لَا وَمَوْلَاهُ الكَرِيمُ يُحِبُّهُ

Blessed is the one whose heart overflows with such love, and why should it not be so, when his Generous Lord Himself loves him?

فِي القَبْرِ حَاشَا أَنْ يُضَامَ مُحِبُّهُ
أَوْ كَيْفَ يَأْكُلُهُ التُّرَابُ وَحُبُّهُ

God forbid that his lover should suffer harm in the grave; how could the dust consume him when his love...

فِي قَلْبِهِ وَمَدِيحُهُ فِي فِيهِ

...for the Prophet is in his heart and his praise is ever on his lips?

مِنْ بُعدِهِ رُوحِي أَطَالَتْ أَنَّهَا
أَنَا لَسْتُ أَصْغِي لِلْعَذُولِ وَإِنْ نَهَىٰ

My soul has long yearned and groaned from his absence, yet I pay no heed to the blamer, even if he tries to dissuade me.

يَا عَاشِقًا ذَاتَ الحَبِيبِ وَحُسْنَهَا
أَكْثِرْ عَلَيْهِ مِنَ الصَّلَاةِ فَإِنَّهَا

O you who are enamored by the Beloved's essence and beauty, multiply your prayers upon him, for indeed they...

هِيَ نُورُ قَبْرِكَ عِنْدَمَا تَأْوِيهِ

...will be the light of your grave when you come to rest within it.

يَا رَبِّ عَبْدٌ قَدْ أَسَا بِفِعَالِهِ
وَبِذُلِّهِ قَدْ مَدَّ كَفَّ سُؤَالِهِ

O Lord, a servant has indeed erred through his actions, and in his humility, he has extended the hand of his supplication.

وَأَتَىٰ حَبِيبَكَ طَامِعًا بِنَوَالِهِ
عَبْدٌ تَوَسَّلَ بِالنَّبِيِّ وَآلِهِ

He has come to Your Beloved, hoping for his intercession, a servant who seeks mediation through the Prophet and his noble family.

فَبِحَقِّهِمْ يَا رَبِّ لَا تُخْزِيهِ

Therefore, by their esteemed right, O Lord, do not disgrace him.
